AuPair or Nanny If you love children and you like to devote your live and spare time to them, then you have two possibilities:
Every country has different requirements for the applicant’s age. Usually the Au Pairs have not to be above 28 years, but for detailed information please see the requirement above.AuPair is a cultural exchange program as the main purpose of the participants is improving the language of the host country. The Au Pairs themselves will gain more experience in childcare, will improve their linguistic skills, and will enrich their visions of the way of live and the cultural values. AuPair lives in the host family and takes part is the host family’s life. AuPair do not obtain salary, but pocket money. AuPair is always a foreigner and her/his statute is defined by the European Agreement (for Western Europe) and by the US State Department (for the USA). However nevertheless all the European Countries have ratified this agreement, all of them observe its rules. One of the stated rules is the one that Au Pair has to attend language courses. Lots of European countries give the Au Pairs not citizens of the European Council different facilities for obtaining visa and work permit. This is under presumption that this is cultural exchange program and the Au pair will attend language courses to improve her/his linguistic skills. Nanny The Nannies are professionals who have completed their education and are experienced in childcare. Sometimes these ladies have worked as nurses or teachers and have practiced their profession in hospitals or social houses, kinder-gardens etc. Often they are experienced as Nannies as well. Their main duty is to take exclusively care of the children. This is alternative in many countries, which have not Au Pair program, and it is a chance for a lot of young qualified ladies to work as Nannies. Often the Nanny is given own apartment and she does not live in the family. Obviously her employment is related to the common rules for work and social insurance in the country she works in. The Nanny obtains regular salary. Nannies are quite popular in the English speaking countries, especially in the UK, New Zealand, Australia, and the USA. In the UK for example the Nanny is qualified pediatric nurse and is responsible for the daily cares for the children. CACHE or some other private institutions adjudge the recognized qualifications.
