What is AuPair? The AuPair programme is an International cultural exchange program, governed by the European Council Agreement for Placing AuPairs (for Western Europe) and by the US State Department (for the USA). Placing AuPair has to be approved by the Federal Labour Department.
AuPair stands for a "bigger sister/brother." The AuPair lives in the family and is provided free accommodation and food, as well as pocket money, and the family expects from her/him good childcare service and assistance in light housework. The Host Family always accepts the AuPair as their own child. They eat together, spend their spare time in the weekends together, and in most cases the AuPair accompanies the Host Family on their holidays.
This programme gives you opportunity to improve your linguistic skills. Every participant attends language courses and upon completion s/he receives a certificate showing her/his knowledge level in the particular language.
An AuPair must meet the following requirements:
· To be aged between 18 and 27 yrs;
· To have some previous experience in childcare (to present at least 2 references proving that);
· To have completed secondary education (to present diploma translated in the language of the country applied for);
· To have certain knowledge of the language of the country applied for;
· To be available for a period of 6 – 18 months, for those who will apply for visa this period is at least 9 months. Sometimes short-term placements are possible – for 2-4 months during the summer or winter holidays, but it differs from family to family;
· To have a valid driving license and an international driving permit valid for the period of stay in the host country is highly recommendable;
· To be non-smoker (for most of the families);
